We all know the icons, but do we know the man behind the Munich Olympics? I designed this 7x9 volume to celebrate Otl Aicher, a giant of German typography and design. After deep-diving into countless books and websites, I compiled his life’s work into one definitive tribute.
To keep things as sharp as Aicher’s own grids, I set the text in Univers—because when you’re talking about a legend, only Frutiger’s finest will do. This book is my personal "thank you" to Aicher for showing us that great design doesn't need words—though I used quite a few to tell his story!
